Adjara TV: From experimental station to international broadcaster

Adjara Television broadcasts news and entertainment programming for an audience throughout Georgia and beyond. In addition to programming in the Georgian language, news programs are presented in English, Russian, German, Spanish and French. Also the television channel carries live programming from other countries of the world.

Adjara Television has developed intensively over the past ten years, evolving from an experimental station into a major communications operation equipped with the most modern facilities. Daily broadcasting began in 1992 and continuous programming was in operation later in the decade. Live programming began in 1997 and the broadcasting schedule expanded to 20 hours per day in that same year.

Adjara Television began satellite broadcasting and providing programming to Europe, Central Asia and North Africa in 2000, in co-operation with French Telecom. Beginning in late 2001, the channel’s output was available in the United States via satellite.
