Advanced Study Centers

The relatively small region of Adjara has 54 public schools. In addition enormous attention has been paid to the development of institutions of higher education in the Region. As of the fall of 2002, there are 15 advanced science and educational centers. Of these seven are state-owned and eight are non-governmental. They are listed below with their date of establishment:

Last year, Adjara’s main institution of higher learning Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University underwent modernization and reconstruction as seen above.
The recently completed Batumi Pre-School Childrens Care Center provides total care and full education for children ages 3-6.
Batumi Memed Abashidze State Art Institute is Adjara’s center for training and advanced study in performance, fine and visual arts .
