The relatively small region of Adjara has 54 public
schools. In addition enormous attention has been
paid to the development of institutions of higher
education in the Region. As of the fall of 2002,
there are 15 advanced science and educational centers.
Of these seven are state-owned and eight are non-governmental.
They are listed below with their date of establishment:
