ADJARA, GEORGIA2002

A first lady in public life

Mrs. Maguli Gogitidze

The Culture Fund of Adjara, chaired by Mrs. Maguli Gogitidze, works with many organizations to improve the quality of life for the people of Adjara and Georgia.

The Cultural Fund is particularly active in the fields of human rights, social welfare, health care and other humanitarian endeavors. Major concerns include the impoverished and disabled. The Fund has numerous charitable projects providing welfare, medical treatment and food distribution for the less fortunate in society.

Mrs. Gogitidze, spouse of President Abashidze, is a musician by profession. Her many activities also include the Adjarian chairmanship of the international organization, “Georgian Women for Peace and Life.” Long concerned about the role of women in society, she recently helped host a conference on this and related subjects.
