IFEMA, the Institución Ferial de Madrid, is Spain’s largest fairground. It contains more than five million square feet of exhibition space. Each year, it organizes 70 shows, attended by 4 million visitors and 30,000 exhibitors. It is a world class, state-of-the-art exhibition facility just five minutes from the Madrid Barajas Airport. Its location at the heart of Spain and only minutes from Madrid and Barajas Airport make it a logistical dream when doing business in Spain. One can literally fly in to Madrid in the morning, attend a meeting at IFEMA and fly out that afternoon. For exhibitors staying overnight, the Accor Hotel group offers first class accommodation, a few minutes’ walk away. For those who want to stay in downtown Madrid, it’s an easy shot with the high speed metro link, which reaches the city center in ten minutes.

The United States Embassy’s Commercial Service (CS) arrangement with IFEMA is an excellent tool for U.S. exporters looking at Spain.
The new CS office is in a prime location at the main Spanish fairgrounds, and can offer a free meeting space to U.S. firms exhibiting, visiting or attending their trade shows. A U.S. firm interested in attending or participating in IFEMA’s trade fairs will have the unique support of the U.S. Commercial Service. The U.S. Commercial Service has reached an agreement with IFEMA that facilitates American business activities in Spain. This cooperation gives the Commercial Service advanced information about trade shows, enabling U.S. companies to participate in or attend future events.

The United States Commercial Service in Spain is a U.S. Government Agency dedicated to assisting U.S. companies in realizing their full business potential in the lucrative Spanish market. USCS/Spain has offices in Barcelona and Madrid and can provide U.S. companies with a wide variety of business services to facilitate success in the Spanish market.

Madrid’s “Law Campus”
By 2010, Madrid’s main law courts will have transferred themselves to Valdebebas, a satellite town adjacent to both Barajas Airport and IFEMA. The entire complex will be known as “Campus de la Justicia” (Law Campus) and will represent one of Spain’s most monumental achievements. Many of the world’s best architects have been competing to design buildings for Campus de la Justicia. Two of the winners are the internationally acclaimed Norman Foster and Richard Roger, both of whose teams will be involved in the design of some of the avant-garde structures.
