Iberia’s New Flights to Boston and Washington

The Spanish airline Iberia has added two new destinations to its U.S. network. On May 6th, it started flying from Boston to Madrid, while the new flights from Washington to the Spanish capital were inaugurated on June 2nd.

Both routes will be served five times a week by 260 seat – Airbus A340/300, equipped with Iberia’s Business Plus class. Among its main features are its seats that recline into full flat beds, a seat pitch of 60” and an in-flight entertainment on demand system with 15 audio and 26 video channels. The Business Plus menus, designed by the well-known Spanish chef Sergi Arola, are based on the best Mediterranean cuisine and offer a wide choice of exquisite Spanish wines.

Since it was launched, the Business Plus class has been very successful. In 2006, its sales grew by more than 17 per cent on the Spanish airline’s routes to and from the United States.

Iberia’s commitment to the U.S. market is not only shown by its new flights to Boston and Washington, but also by a substantial increase in its flight frequencies to its other U.S. destinations. Today, Iberia flies twice a day to New York, 10 times a week to Miami and once a day to Chicago. This all adds up to 41 weekly frequencies between the United States and Spain compared to the 24 frequencies offered during the winter timetable 2006 / 2007. Thanks to the airline’s code-share agreement with American Airlines, its oneworld alliance partner, Iberia is also present in other 17 U.S. cities.

From Iberia’s main hub in Madrid, passengers from the United States can fly on to other 35 Spanish cities, 36 European destinations and 10 cities in Africa and the Middle East with a very short connecting time.
