"When we look
at this volatile region, we find Jordan a model
for stability and a supporter of international
efforts geared to strengthen peace in the Middle
East,"
Congressman Jim Kolbe (R-AZ), March 17,
2005
We
traveled to Jordan where we met with King Abdallah.
We discussed regional issues, particularly Iraq
and prospects for peace on the West Bank and
Gaza. King Abdallah is clearly engaged on both
issues and we appreciate that he continues to
be a valued partner for peace.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), June
13, 2005
Jordan is embarking
upon free market reforms and encouraging the
growth of small business and entrepreneurs.
We know in the American experience that entrepreneurship
is that engine of economic and job growth. I
am encouraged by the progress that King Abdullah
II is making, and I am hopeful the Jordanian
economy flourishes. As it does so, it will become
a model of reform throughout the Middle East.
Senator Bill Frist (R-TN), May 17, 2005
We welcome Jordan's leadership,
particularly in the vital area of education
reform. And Jordan's education initiative, the
innovative approach that was taken there to
addressing the challenges of education and education
for youth in the 21st century, really does serve
as a model for the region.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice,
June 19, 2005
Since 2000, 32 new
innovative pharmaceutical product launches have
happened in Jordana substantial increase
in the approval rate of innovative drugs. This
facilitated Jordanian consumers' access to many
new medicines.
And since the enactment of their free trade
agreement, Jordans drug industry has started
developing its own innovative medicines.
Jordans experience demonstrates how strong
intellectual property protection can substantially
benefit developing countries.
Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez,
October 18, 2005
Jordan's
King Abdullah II is an excellent example of
what can be achieved. He is a friend of the
United States, a partner in the war against
terrorism, and a voice of tolerance and moderation
in the Muslim world.
Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA), July 30,
2003
