Costa Rica does not only have an abundance of wildlife, but it is also rich in color, culture, history, music, buildings, and people’s faces, which, when combined all together, makes for a very photogenic country. This Central American country is rather small but so rich in biodiversity, that it is fairly easy to explore the many different climatic zones and flora and fauna without having to travel great distances. In the morning you can wake up on the Atlantic side of the country, rich in Indian and Caribbean culture. During the day you can drive across the country and see several volcanoes, and end your day on the Pacific coast, which, in the north, is very traditional, and, in the south, is the wildest of wild.

If you are interested in finding an alternative way of getting to know this tiny but charming country, Costa Rica Photosafaris offers eleven day-packages to photographers of all levels. Some of their in-field photography courses have been organized by the Organization for Tropical Studies. As the name suggests, the company specializes in demonstrating the richness of Costa Rica through the camera lens, be the photographer a company guide or a client.

Two nature photographers, Sergio and Juan José Pucci, father and son, have traveled throughout the country for over twenty years. They know all the hideaways, and when to visit them, and they provide personal guidance to everyone in the group, which is not to exceed more than fifteen people.

According to the Pucci’s, what really makes Costa Rican photo safaris different is the diversity of the country: the photographer doesn’t need to spend one week to take pictures of one particular animal. During eleven days in Costa Rica photographers have the opportunity to photograph at different altitudes the cloud forests, rain forests, dry forests, beaches, volcanoes, mangroves, islands – many of them containing lizards, monkeys, and nesting places for birds.
