“What we sell here at Parque Valle del Sol… is life style,” said General Manager Leonardo Pinto. If you take the time to drive around this charming residential area, fifteen minutes from the capital San José and the international airport, Pinto’s statement becomes clear.

Parque Valle del Sol is located in the Santa Ana valley, looking out upon the green colored panorama of the surrounding hills. The gated complex consists of a residential community of approximately a hundred and forty families. The Multiplaza mall is only minutes away, as are the offices of Intel, where many of Parque Valle del Sol’s residents work. The Parque also offers world-class golf on its eighteen-hole course.

“We have one of the best microclimates in the entire world,” says Pinto, adding, “The average temperature is 72 F. I am sure this fact has something to do with why so many Americans want to live in Costa Rica.” As wonderful as the climate is, the golf course is probably the primary reason that so many American CEO’s, managers, directors, and investors move to the Parque.

Its 6,900- yard, 72- par course offers not only a challenge, but also a great variety of open-air entertainment and services for the entire family. As with everything else in Costa Rica, this golf course adheres to strict environmental standards. The course has been recognized by the Audubon International Program as offering one of the most effective ecological programs for golf. Designed by a prominent American golf course architect, it promises a harmonious relationship with the ecosystem. At the present time the golf course is open to the inhabitants of Parque Valle del Sol, as well the general public but, starting in 2003, lifetime membership will be introduced.

For anyone thinking of moving to San José, and whose passion happens to be golf, Parque Valle del Sol is well worth a look. To satisfy the rental and ownership market, homes continue to be built in the vicinity of the course. In the end analysis, according to Pinto, when it comes to playing golf or any sport in Costa Rica, the season lasts twelve months a year, as opposed to the common misconception that it rains all the time. If it does rain, then take in one of the volcanoes only a few hours away from Parque Valle del Sol.
