Nevis has finally established the Sea Bridge – a ferry to transport vehicles between St Kitts and Nevis. Nevisians declare that a “bridge” between the two islands has long been anticipated, not only by residents, but by their parents, and those before them. The Sea Bridge has fulfilled that dream.
The Sea Bridge provides a daily ferry service from Cades Bay, Nevis, to Major’s Bay, St. Kitts. According to Rawlinson Isaac, the Chairman and CEO of Sea Bridge (SKN) Inc., the 135-feet long vessel has a capacity for 15 vehicles and covers the 3.6 miles between the two islands in approximately 15 minutes.
Isaac pointed out that this development offers a tremendous opportunity for the people of both St Kitts and Nevis to move freely between the two islands for both economic and leisure activities. “It could mean that cruise ships docking at the Port Zante, St. Kitts, could possibly have their passengers visit Nevis and return at a very convenient time,” said Isaac.

The CEO also noted that Sea Bridge would be a boon to families, giving them the opportunity to visit during weekends and public holidays. The ferry will also benefit events in Nevis such as the Music Festival, Culturama, Carnival, Village Festival, and cricket matches.
Isaac stated that the Sea Bridge will not only improve the level of transportation between the two islands but will also integrate the economic sectors, create greater political and social harmony, improve the well-being of the citizens of St. Kitts-Nevis and lead to greater investment in the physical infrastructure of Nevis. For example, suppliers of fuel to St Kitts are already using the Sea Bridge on a daily basis, saving them the costs of building a holding area on Nevis.
